Aberdeen

Aberdeen is located in Northeast South Dakota in the James River Valley. The Aberdeen plant sits on a main line railroad operated by the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railway and is adjacent to U.S. Highway 12 and 281. Aberdeen has ample track space to accommodate shipping unit trains (100 cars) for either denatured ethanol or distiller’s dried grains with solubles (DDGS). The plant has a beneficial grain origination relationship with South Dakota Wheat Growers Cooperative. In addition to having an abundant supply of corn, Aberdeen is also a heavy cattle-feeding area, which provides a consistent co-product market. Two plants comprise the Aberdeen location: a nine million gallon Broin Plant, which was commissioned in 1992; and a forty-four million gallon ICM plant, which was established in 2008. Together, they have a production capacity of 53 million gallons per year of denatured ethanol and 160,000 tons of DDGS. In April 2012, we added corn oil extraction and will produce approximately 5,000 tons of non-food grade corn oil per year.
